Folks, here are some lobbying and action items that will be very useful.
1) Try reaching out to your American friends/managers/colleagues and ask them to call Senators.
2) Universities are missing in action here. They are major beneficiaries of high-skilled immigration, because graduate school is typical first step. They must be concerned with not only the fact that special categories for researchers/professors is gone but also that lot fewer students from India and China will labor in their labs. COUNCIL OF GRADUATE EDUCATION is a good place to start.
3) Someone please write and op-ed piece of NY Times. They are pretty sympathetic to these kind of issues. A major criteria for publication in the op-ed section is that the topic should be current. The plight of legal immigrants can't get more current that this. Any op-ed piece will get major exposure to our plight. Thank you for the reply. My confusion stemmed from whether i can use my US License as my id for gaining the license. Or whether somehow my A# or I94 number had to be noted on the license/certificate in order to use it at a later point for the green card process.

Hi,
Company B has applied for I-140 and 485 because you will work with them for a min of 6 to 12 months after getting GC.
So its not required for you to join them if they have already submitted I-140 and 485. You can say that you will join them after getting GC.
And if the 485 takes more than 180 days for the approval from the receipt date you can apply the AC21 portability rule and submit a new employment offer from anycompany and you can join that company.(Provided I-140 is approved and if I-140 is pending for more than 180 days then you can port the I-140 priority date by restarting the whole GC process)
Above is the knowledge I got from IV and google.
So u dont need to worry and join the company B, but keep them happy since they have to respond to all RFE till I-140 is approved.

I believe what you need to show is the company's P&L statement with revenue statement, and not just $7000 in profit. if the company has a revenue of $1mil or more, it should be fine, if less then it needs to show how many employees it had and what profit or loss it made....it should be at least $1.0 profit, rather than a loss.

Once your wife's starts using EAD, her H status is invalid (H1 or H4).
EAD to H4: Fastest way to get back to H4 would be travel outside USA, stamp, and reenter using H4. You should be maintaining the H1 status all the time.
EAD to H1: In my opinion, she can get back to H1 as long as her H1 is not expired. COS to H1 or extension can not be done past expiry date.

what is the priority date?there is an employer who filled perm for me in october 2008 and the perm was approved.i-140 was not filled.

There are 3 ideas there, but none for our cause.
I am no pro on these, but may be we could get an idea inserted for our cause and get enough votes on it.
