As many of you assured me, the date on the I-94 reflected the date on my I-797 (I received a B, not an A). It did not have anything to do with my passport expiration date as I was fearing. Thanks everyone!

Hopefully, you guys and other new H1-B guys coming to US and yet to file for green card, get frustrated enough about getting locked to an employer and inability of the spouse to get employed and join IV in large enough numbers to bring the "Ability-to-file-I485-during-retrogression" to the top priority where it once was.

As far as I know there is a Malayalam IPTV service available for North American viewers. It is called "BomTV" (Best of Malayalam TV) with Asianet (4 channels), Jeevan, Jaihind, Shalom, Powervision, etc. You don't need dish or cable or computer and you get HD transmission on your TV. You need high speed internet. You may check for more details at:

you have to give the H1 qualifying exam (I think Step 3), then you have to apply for Residency in universities. They all call you for personal interview, and the results are announced in mid march. Once you are selected, they'll process H1 for you. If you do not have step 3 cleared, then they'll process J1 visa for you. Most of these universities come under non-profit so, H1 quota is not a issue for them.

Part-time MS and prt-time Ph D are two different animals.
Most MS's have a fixed number of courses; some require thesis. You can complete them at your pace as long as the courses are offered at a time that fits your work schedule.
Ph D depends on major and deptt. Some majors require lot of work. The normal components of Ph D are courses, general exam, proposal, proposal defense and dissertation defense. Course work varies from school to school. There are very good schools with no course requirement. Proposal can get very intensive and requires full-time effort.

Is there any relation between biometrics and the final green card approval time?
I have got annecdotal info from several friends. With one exception (because of a name check process that has taken over two years!) most people receive the green card around three months after the biometrics.
Is that the case?
Biometrics expire after 15 months. This could be renewal, however if it turns to be what you think ? than good for you.
In my case, biometrics had expired 6-8 months ago, but USCIS never informed me. My PD is current but they are saying case is struck at last background check. All other stuff like name-check, finger-prints are done.

I have the exact question with duttasurajit -- my title for green card is computer information system manager, and I'd like to take a job for technical lead / architect. The job duties are very similar. Will that cause a problem?
btw: I don't know why so many people apply under the title of 'computer information system manager'. If you search Dice.com, hardly any position come out with this title.

I was under the impression that the job title does not matter for AC21 as long as the job duties are similar. For example, instead of IT Manager, say, I get a title of Developement Lead/Team Lead and the Job duties are similar.

I filed AOS during July 07 fiasco. It has been more than 15 months since the first fingerprint but I have not yet received 2nd fingerprint notice. I noticed a SLUD in May/09 but no notice. Anybody else out there who filed in July but don't have second fingerprint notice yet?

I checked with my lawyer and several forums and response i got was that FP expires in 15 months and generally USCIS issues second FP notice when they are very close to approving your case. I called TSC and got a nice IO who told me that my FP did expire and he is issuing a request to send me FP notice and i should get one in 30 days. Not sure how it will go but i have heard that IO can approve your case even if FP expired and request FP after approval but before cards are sent.

USCIS started sending notifications for Premium Processing petitioners on 15th April, 2008. As we start receiving notifications, a lot of H1B petitioners using IV are waiting to hear from USCIS, this thread can help keep the information in one place and provide quick access to the current status of notifications.
