Sorry if a thread already exist to track Lou Dobbs statements and speculations on CNN about Immigration and other issues. Looked around since yesterday but could not find any.
As Greg Siskind suggested,
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"The best thing I think you can do is to aggressively fact check him. He should be monitored every night and every statement in his immigration stories should be researched to determine accuracy. The most effective way he has been dealt with is the way 60 Minutes did it when they reported on some seriously incorrect statements he reported. He gets EXTREMELY defensive when he's questioned on his factual reporting.
It's hard to attack him just for his opinions. But CNN holds itself out as a credible news organizations and they are sensitive on these issues.
If there was a team of people who know immigration issues well and if we could find regular examples of false statements, I think the pressure would increase. Such documentation would also help for pursuing any efforts to get advertisers to pull out from the show."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Request members to post all the statements from Lou Dobbs on this thread. Also request members to run a fact check on his wild speculations and include them along.

We should not let go of this.
Being a congressman he should not misuse his first amendment to utter false statements.
Dear congressman...i pity your lack of knowledge on H1B program and USCIS policies... We can help you understand better....Please do not make a fool out of your self.... I hope people do not look at you as a moron...and we wish you all the best in your political career.
Ha..Ha :D - That is funny. He indeed should be sent an e-mail saying just that.

We are running a small funding drive as a gesture of support IV for answering each other's questions in times of need.
If your question is answered by a fellow member, do make a point to contribute some amount. It will help continue this effort.
We understand everyone is busy with I485 filing and have put everything on hold. But we have not put our efforts on hold in the interest of this communty and this cause. Core is working on this issue despite being busy on their own I485 filing.
We are also working with our lobbyists on CIR and as soon as there is an action item we will post it on the forum for all to participate.
At this time, do take out a couple of minutes off your busy schedule with I485 filing and contribute towards Immigrationvoice.
Thanks

Yes, USCIS works backwards, dont you see, mar 2005 is still waiting while May 2006 getting approved? There is no pattern even to the approval statuses, god only knows how they work.

ofcourse, all employees are protected against discrimination based on religion, gender etc.,
that was not my point.
I understand that a company CAN refuse to hire someone based on their visa status, such as h1, f1, and that is legal.
But EAD is a different matter. It is not a visa. when the AOS is pending it is like a precursior to a GC and has similar rights or whatever
I was trying to clarify if it is legal to refuse employing someone based on their EAD when their AOS is pending.

also asked friends & family (in US) to start calling.
can someone PLEASE start a email campaign (Yes, a chain letter) to at least the DESI community.
This is a great chance for a BIG step forward and many of you have worked VERY hard (which has motivated me also, else i had lost hope).
God bless!!!

Guys,
If I may suggest.
Take a look at the pending 1-130 (Pref). Over 800k are pending and adjudication has been deferred in those cases. Those are FB cases for sure. Now if USCIS has deferred action in those cases, can we infer that all the 279k I-485 cases relate only to EB? Cant say for sure.
However as it was pointed out in another forum, Texas and Nebraska process only EB cases. In their cases, the rate of preadjudication is very high....over 90% in Texas. I cant fathom the Nebraska numbers.
The preadjudication numbers, in my opinion, are of the EB cases. The data, on the whole, needs to be explained by USCIS, better.
You have just hit a stick on my head. Very good point to take into consideration.

Hi:
I am a July 2nd filer too and still waiting for the checks to be cashed. Please add me to the waiting club.

I am surprised to see the list compiled by Sanjay b that all the pendig applications are received in the same time frame and received by J. Barrett. Do you guys think this package of applications is mispalced or something?
CADude and others... maybe your efforts are paying off. What I learned in this process is that have faith in your application filing. If everything is fine you'll definitely get the receipts. It may be either next week or in 2 weeks.
Couple of things...
1) Calling USCIS is useless...
2) Look for checks for cashed....
3) Keep in touch with our pending group. I gives you support and motivation.

Both me and my wife are here on H1-B visas. I am filing 485 on my own without a lawyer. My wife is going to be my dependent. I have 2 questions:
Do we both need to fill out I-485s or should I attach a copy of my I-485 alongwith my wife's documents?
Also, does anyone have a sample covering letter for I-485 application?
Please reply ASAP.

Isn't it part of her job? There is nothing like being servant. Moreover, it was just asked to rinse the bottle with hot water, to be sure it is hygenic, in a circumstances when baby was making tantrums. Another reason for asking was because bathrooms were full, otherwise there wouldn't have been a need. We have travelled many other airlines, and there was never an issue for such requests. Many airlines go extra mile to please you. It is what is called customer service.
I don't understand why is it hard or degrading? Maybe then they are not supposed to serve you a cool cup of water at your seat as well. Is that demeaning as well on part of her job?
no its not part of her job. I know a stewardess, and this exactly the part she dislikes about her job. people think its her job to attend to all little demands of the passengers.
She has two duties on the plane, in order:
- safety of the passengers. this is #1.(ensuring luggage is stowed, seatbeats are on, people are not wandering around the aisles; co-ordinate and help in case of emergencies)
- basic service (serve food, clear the trays, handle simple requests like juice/water, ice barfbags etc). This does not include cleaning out your babies bottles. Some airlines have stewardesses who would go out of their way (I have seen Singapore Airlines do this) but again, rinsing a baby's bottle is NOT part of her job. She can get you a bottle of hot water if you want and you can rinse it yourself either in the sink or into the barf-bag.

Would anyone be able to advise if I can travel out of the country after I've filed the 485 if I have an approved I-797 approval notice (for H-1B) but old H-1B stamp in pp has already expired?
If I travel out and then get the H-1B visa stamp at an outside consulate, I would be able to travel back in, but would I have considered have abandoned the 485 application? (since I travelled out without a valid H-1B stamp in pp)??
Can I travel out even before my AP arrives? Or does having an AP make a difference? I would prefer to stay on H-1B status since you never know what happens to the 140/485 application.
Thanks for the help guys.

It is a oneway call for giving information on, "USCIS Receipting Delay - How Does This Affect You?" Perhaps they are going to repleat what they said on this on Oct 5 (i.e. mention nothing about applications not in the system, other than just to wait). What if USCIS guys mixed up "done" and "yet to be done" boxes. You will perhaps never find un-entered filings, unless someone checks manually each and every filing in each and every box.
